A Journey Worth the Trek
Unlike many San Francisco photo spots where you can park and immediately begin shooting, Marshall’s Beach requires a bit of an adventure. To reach the shoreline, we navigate the Batteries to Bluffs trail. It is a scenic descent that offers panoramic views of the Pacific, providing a great opportunity for those candid, “in-between” moments before we even touch the sand.
Especially for couples coming straight from a San Francisco City Hall ceremony, I always recommend bringing a pair of comfortable shoes for the trek down. You can easily switch into formal footwear once we reach the water’s edge. The hike is part of the story, and the secluded feel of the beach makes the effort worth it.
Family Connection Across the Distance
One of the most moving aspects of this specific elopement was how the couple prioritized family, despite the distance. The bride’s family was unable to attend in person, but they were a vital part of the day. We set up a tripod directly in the sand, allowing them to participate via a FaceTime call.
